Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 August 2026
These terms govern your use of IndieLane. By creating an account, buying, or selling on the marketplace, you agree to them. Please read the sections on disputes and seller obligations carefully — they affect your rights.
1. About the marketplace
IndieLane is a venue that connects independent sellers with buyers. When you buy something, your contract of sale is with the seller, not with us. We provide the platform, take payment on the seller's behalf, and offer a dispute process — but we do not make, own, inspect or ship the items listed.
2. Your account
- You must provide accurate details and keep them up to date.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password secure. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.
- You must be at least 18 years old to sell on the platform, as selling involves forming contracts and receiving payments.
- One person may not operate multiple accounts to evade a suspension.
3. Buying
- Placing an order is an offer to buy. The contract forms when the seller confirms it.
- Prices are shown in Indian Rupees and include the seller's stated shipping cost. Any applicable taxes are shown before you pay.
- Because items are handmade, small variations from the photographs are normal and are not by themselves grounds for a dispute.
- If something is wrong with your order, use Report a problem on the order page. This opens a tracked case with the seller which can be escalated to us if they cannot resolve it.
4. Selling
- You must have the right to sell what you list, and listings must accurately describe the item, its materials and its condition.
- You are responsible for fulfilment, for meeting your stated processing and shipping times, and for your own tax obligations.
- You must honour the returns and refund policy shown on your shop, and respond to cases raised against your orders.
- We deduct a platform commission and payment processing fee from each sale. Current rates are shown in your Finances dashboard, and we will give notice before changing them.
5. Prohibited items and conduct
You may not list, or use the marketplace for:
- Mass-produced goods misrepresented as handmade.
- Counterfeit items, or anything infringing another's intellectual property.
- Illegal, hazardous, or age-restricted goods.
- Harassment, hate speech, spam, or attempts to take transactions off-platform to avoid fees.
- Fake reviews, or manipulating ratings.
6. Payments and refunds
Payments are processed by Cashfree Payments. Refunds — whether agreed by a seller, issued as the outcome of a case, or arising from a cancelled order — are returned to the original payment method. Cash-on-delivery orders are settled directly on delivery.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the photographs, listing text and reviews you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the marketplace. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload.
8. Moderation and suspension
We may remove listings, hide content, or suspend accounts that breach these terms. Where practical we will explain why and give you an opportunity to respond. Serious or repeated breaches may result in permanent removal.
9. Availability and liability
We work to keep the marketplace available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may take it down for maintenance. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the quality, safety or legality of items sold by sellers, and our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid through the platform in the transaction giving rise to the claim.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections available under the mandatory law of your country of residence.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in advance, and continued use after they take effect means you accept them. See also our Privacy Policy.
